Breakouts & Acne
Acne is a common skin condition that affects both teenagers and adults. Up to 80% of teenagers have at some point experienced some form of increased sebum (oil) production and acne ranging from mild to severe!
Common acne triggers include hormones (think puberty), genetics, and in adults may also be attributed to diet, lifestyle, and improper cleansing.
Acne comes in the form of blackheads, whiteheads, pustules, papules, cysts, nodules, and fungal acne and is always caused by a blockage in the skin's pores due to increased amounts of sebum combined with a build-up of dead skin cells, which then encourages bacterial growth and infection.
Acne treatment usually requires patience and consistency. Depending on the severity of your acne, oral medications and other treatment methods may need to be considered alongside the right skincare products.
